5One of the few oils that will penetrate the hair shaftJul 22, 2008
By Story Caterpillar
After I started using Shakakai and Amla powder on my hair with fantastic results (you can see my reviews for them as well) I did some research on Avurvedic hair care and decided to try using oil on my hair as well. I found studies showing that coconut and olive oil are two of the few oils that will penetrate the hair shaft so I started mixing them (50/50) to use in my hair after washing as a leave in treatment. The result was unbelievably soft hair!!! But even better than the way it's worked on my hair is the way it's worked on my daughters hair. One of my girls has very curly, baby fine hair which does NOT make for a good combination when it comes to tangles. The first time I used these oils I was able to brush through her hair with virtually no tangles! But the best thing was the way it made my hair feel. I have a sensory touch sensitivity... I can't tolerate feeling oil or sticky substances on my hands. I can't even stand to pet dogs who have short, coarse fur. So it goes without saying that I was a little concerned about putting oil in my hair!!! But not only did it turn out super soft, it is absolutely non greasy once it absorbs into the hair and it also feels cleaner somehow. My hair looks super shiny and healthy... I'm so amazed at the difference. It's really done wonders!

5Great coconut oil NO TRANS FATJan 09, 2007
By Patricia A. Schafer "Ph.D."
I've started cooking with coconut oil and have been researching it. It is a SAFE product, makes foods crispier, and ordering it from [...] is the most economical price ANYWHERE. I order the organic because my daughter does not like the flavor of coconut and organic has no flavor or very, very slight; I also order virgin coconut oil because I like the flavor of coconut. Research this yourself and you will find Spectrum Naturals is a good product and [...] offers the best price. It has NO TRANS FAT!!!

Hmmm. Coconut oil that can be used for body and for cooking. I was suspect. Opened jar to get a wiff of my beloved coconut fragrance. NONE. Only after the fact did I do my reading to learn the benefits of this product. I Like it. Texture while cold seems gritty upon scooping out, but goes on smooth upon application. If heated, turns completely liquid. Left mine by a heating element accidently and I thought someone had poured water into the jar. Firmed back up on window sill. I used this product for after bath with great results. Used it on the kids. Used it for sauteing something when I ran out of regular oil. Worked fine. I didn't rate 5 stars because I didn't like the idea of scooping it out while firm which is my preferred texture for body application. I'd buy it again as I'm moving towards more natural products.

5It comes in a glass jar? Score!Jun 10, 2010
By Jessica Lee Cornell
Yes, it comes in a glass jar. I was very pleased with this. I've been using this oil topically for about 2 weeks now (especially when I get out of the shower/bath) and its pretty good stuff. My skin feels hydrated and my nail cuticles look great. It also works great as a carrier oil for essential oils and I've made my own shaving "oil" with tea tree essential oil. Works great for a smooth leg shave. I've come to find out that I enjoy coconut oil better than olive oil as a moisturizer for hair and skin. Its not as .... heavy. I've cooked with this oil, too. My favorite is to roast sweet potatoes in the oven with this stuff. They come out nice and caramelized and, again, not as "heavy" as they are with olive oil. I dunno. Maybe its just me :)

When the oil arrived, it was quite a warm day PLUS it had been on that hot delivery truck. It was completely liquid but it did harden. The texture, at first, in the hardened stage is "grainy" but smoothes out very quickly once it comes into contact with body heat. I would advise that if you are using this topically as well as culinarily divide the oil for your specific use, i.e. another glass container for your cosmetic use.

Great product and will buy again!

5Organic Junky!!Mar 10, 2009
By D. J. Mathis "DuBois Mami09"
I have been using Coconut oil for about 5years now. Its a wonderful product if have trouble with BM. U can cook with it like regular cooking oil. I put it in oatmeal, brownies, grits, fry my eggs or turkey bacon, sautee vegies anything really! I dont use it in liquids like cereal but it works fine. It has no taste so U dont even notice a difference.
This seller shipped Super Fast!! and the brand is great. Trust me you dont have to pay alot for good quality. This brand is great. I would highly recommend it.
